So I started a bulk last year at 140. And truthfully, I was already getting action with some girls who were on average HB7-8. However I really just wanted to improve. So far my lifts have really shot up and I have gained some size. However I am short so its gotten to the point where the extra weight makes me look like a chipmunk. Im 5'5. I read that a bulk should last 15 months. That would mean it would End in January for me. Which I am okay with but that means I definitely wont be gettting any action.
I guess it wouldnt be a insecurity if I was younger. But I feel at 26-27 I am wasting prime years on not being super attractive. I am worried by the time I do cut and look good I will have wasted a year and prime young years.

A) as I commented elsewhere in a thread for this post, 26 is just getting started. I hereby re-dedicate the following two shitposts to you:

B) embrace your body type. If you're naturally lean and shredded, get ripped. As a larger guy, let me tell you: it has its drawbacks as well.

Stop guessing and go get some good data. Find a DEXA scan (best) or BodPod (good) machine and take once a month readings of your body fat percentage. Just keep the method consistent. 140 lbs @ 5'5" seems pretty average. Also be warned that there's a wide variance in BF% measurements depending on the method (+/- ~3%) and measurement variation (+/- ~3%) so don't get overly caught up on getting down to a specific percentage like 12%... the other person recommending it might have used a different method and what's 12% to them would measure 16% by your method.
Maybe your mind can't deal with your body being a different size. I have a lot of mental resistance towards going up or down in weight and it's far from rational.

I would recommend 3 month bulk max.
Additionally you shouldn’t necessarily be getting fat while bulking; eating at a 300-500cal surplus should have you gaining max 2lb a week. Over the course of 3 months that’s 12lb gained (ideally about half of that is all muscle as well).
Cut back down to 10-12% for an bit and then bulk again.

I have been going for about 9 months now. Have gained about 30 lbs. I dont really want to end anytime soon because my lifts are really going up still and it feels great. I dont want to turn the machine on while my lifts are still rocketing.

To each their own but imo you should basically just go from 10-12% to 15-16% then cut back down rinse repeat.
Ideally your strength shouldn’t go that much drastically lower on a cut either

I understand. I plan on finishing these 12 weeks out anyways. I am so close to hitting the advance strength level for my lifts. I really want to acclompish it.

False narrative. If you are gaining enough fat to be disgusting you are bulking too fast. Bulk at 100-200cal above maintenance. Weigh yourself everyday and take the average of the week and compare it week by week to see if you are still gaining weight. If you get to 20-22% body fat just cut down to 12% and then bulk again. Keep protein around current weight on both cut and bulk. Use tdee to start to see where your calories are. Just my 0.02. If you can't get laid on a bulk its not because you are fat its because you are lame

I am not fat at all. But .5-1 lb a week over the last 39 weeks I have gained about 30 lbs. Truthfully it looks pretty lean still have core definition. I am gaining strength really good right now and I am close to hitting some goals I have been dreaming of. So I am not fat persay, I guess I just am not use to looking bulky especially at my height cause I have always been the skinny pretty boy. Maybe I just need more confidence.

Bulk at winter, cut at spring/summer. If you can get it to 70-75kg at 10%, you'd be Adonis.
The point of bulking is not to get fat, but to ensure you're giving your body enough. When your abs start to disappear, it's time to stop.
Velociropter454 4mo ago
Wouldnt say Im fat I still have core definition. Just not use to being that big. More so worried about my age then anything.

Bulking is for professional body builders on steroids entering competitions. Just do a cheat day every so often(1-2 weeks). Our bodies are designed to deal with feast/famine. Feasting for 9 months is a really bad idea. Feasting for 1 day a week will provide steady gains in muscle and not fat. Plus you can keep adjusting it as you grow. Even the top body builders like Rich Piana used cheat days rather than bulk/cut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM9u3_Mvaks

26 is fine. It takes longer than that for things to start slowing down metabolically. All you need is a surplus for the body to invest, more than a small surplus just goes to waste and will mean a longer or greater deficit to remove the excess fat.
