You have to know the rules before you can effectively break them. Find clothes that fit well and compliment your appearance, and find out what colours compliment each other.

The safest bet is to pick whatever is in fashion in your surroundings and improve them through fit and colour matching. Take undercuts for example. They're in fashion these days. Rather than go for something full-fuckboy that would only look decent in a photo shoot at a specific angle, pick an undercut that compliments your face, is easy to maintain and looks good from all angles. Clothes, again, skinny is in fashion, but skinny jeans only look good on tall, skinny art college students. For those who aren't fat, slim fit is the way to go. Tapered slim fit if you're not jacked, straight slim fit if you are. Baggy clothes only come into fashion once in a blue moon, and if they're not in fashion, they're only seen on lazy, fat guys who don't really care about their appearance.

I do however find your suggestions for fashion inspiration to be a bit dull, although i respect that it's your opinion and everyone has different opinion on clothes. Conor McGregor? I really don't associate him with fashion. The guy literally has two looks: Tight t-shirts with jeans and his million dollar custommade suit. Not really inspiring.

It all really depends on what you like, however fashion is so strongly affected by media and celebrities that it tries to force people to wear what's "in". I started paying more attention to fashion a few years ago. I used to be the guy with unfit jeans and a hoodie, terrible style.

I absolutely hate the "skater-style". Caps, long t-shirts/sweaters, white shoes, you know what i mean. This style you see very frequently because of all the hiphop stars that are dominating the music industry and also instagram. I personally favour the business-casual style, and i've had a lot of compliments on my attire from girls after i started embracing it. Tucked-in shirt, brown boots/dress shoes. Nice fitting jeans/chinos. Shirt-sweater combo is also really nice. In my opinion, the skater-style is something many(especially young girls) like, but not everyone is impressed by someone dressing like they are a teenager. I find that you can really never go wrong with business-casual. ALL girls, young and old, love this if you pull it off correctly and you get that "gentleman look".

Also just wanted to add: The most vital part of fashion is MAKING SURE IT FITS. And i don't mean just the size, but also that the different aspects (color etc) of your outfit makes sense together. I've seen too many times guys who wears what is originally a great outfit, but ruins it because it doesn't fit him, or the colour combo is just horrible. Jeans shouldn't be baggy. (Oh but Post Malone wears that and everyone loves him! That's because he is a superstar millionaire) Make sure your shoes fit the rest of your outfit. Brown boots goes well with a brown leather belt. So recently, I made some sweet, sweet purchases from sportsdirect (an online store), as they often have decent-looking clothing on sale. What could have gone wrong, right? Fat Americans.

Fat Americans had to make themselves feel good, so they pushed the size labels - depending on a brand, a (S)mall can actually be (M)edium, a (M)edium an actual (L)arge, etc. (same as with them pushing the definition of obesity to higher bodyfat %).

So now I have a bunch of (M)edium T-shirts - some of which are too big for me. It is time to submerge them cotton T-shirts in hot water for a couple dozen minutes, one at a time - to make them shrink. This is not how I imagined it'd be...

These are high quality jeans too. (My thighs rub when I walk) Shirts and sweaters that stretch are fine.
