This is kind of weird I guess, but the loss of my ex hits me hard partly because she was pretty unusual. She had some OCD issues, was nerdy, was decently hot, not very social, didn't have social media etc. It feels like finding another one like her is searching for a second needle in a haystack. She was unusually conservative too unlike %99 of the girls who I run into.

But I think they are in circles like: goth, gamers, anime, amateur rock groupies, hippie types, yoga/health conscious types, pothead circles
You probably won’t find them at classic places like bars, clubs, gyms, malls.

Looking for oddities might mean you are trying to look for a special girl unicorn, that you allegedly can't find amongst other groups, because odd = "outside of the system - better".
I'm not saying it is not true. But your starting point sounds like, they have to be better and your perception is skewed.
IF you are looking for odd, eliminate places where they are least likely: ie night clubs, swanky bars.
Your best bet is a day time cold approach.
Your second reason for looking for odd might be excuse. You excuse yourself for not approaching girls or having low success overall. You have a perfect reason to blame an unfair world, women etc.
