have a nasty ass cyst by my tailbone that’s getting surgically removed pretty soon; doing reverse incline sit ups are a no go and dragon flags are risky.
Added in cable crunches and planks; any suggestions on exercises that would specifically target the lower abs without using my tailbone area as the hinge if that makes sense?

Have you tried ab rollers? Those things are pretty cheap. A similar movement can be done with rings if you already have those.

I think pelvic tilt is quite important with ab rollers. To get the most from the lower areas, a little constant forward tilt helps. I am not sure how this plays with the tail bone but if it works well, then good because its a good tool. Coming to a good slow stop on the muscles, not quite with your weight on the ground and then slowly starting the up stroke with tension in extension while holding form allows for that stretch under tension thing.

It’s more like getting contact w my tailbone as the hinge haha rollers are fine bc my tailbone isn’t pressing on a bench or anything; reverse sit ups not so much bc it is

Do be careful with the form and don't go for a full one right away. You better do more of them but shorter, than fewer long one.

Hanging leg raises is what I do.
For most men, 10-12% bodyfat is whats needed to reveal a full 6 pack.

You're looking for Transverse Abdominal exercises (TVAs).
Hanging Leg Raises > Toes to Bar Leg Raises Kneeling Ab Wheel Rollout > Standing Ab Wheel Rollout
As others have said, you need to be REALLY lean to show these muscles. It is far more related to diet and bodyfat levels than training them directly. But check if you have weak TVAs, then address accordingly.
