I’m currently working in a face-to-face marketing role to improve my social and communication skills, especially with Girls.
Sometimes during our conversations, they smile and say I look familiar. When I ask where, they usually laugh and insist, “Oh, I just know you from somewhere,” as if they think I’m joking. I usually respond with “maybe” and continue the convo. This has happened several times, and I’m unsure what they mean by it. FUCK.

If you think that I'm joking, and that you shouldn't ever say things that make you sound like an 'arrogant prick' then you have a lot to learn about game. Women are very impressed by cocky, arrogant self centred pricks.
Game is much like joke telling - its all how you deliver it. I would tend to lean in a bit, deepen my voice, make sure that only she can hear what I am saying and then give her a smile and a quick wink after delivery.

I used to get this when I was younger. It depends on who's popular in media. You probably look like some KPop star or something like that. I used to get Elton John, then Paul McCartney, then James Bond. Now I just get Boomer even though I'm an X'er.

They either do recognize you (slim chance), or they are just just trying to build rapport as an IOI. You guys need to stop overthinking this stuff.
If a girl is even lobbing unsolicited attention at you at all and maintaining a conversation and trying to progress it, she is probably interested or at least interested in seeing if you won't be retarded about her efforts.
Women have subtle game, if they are trying to get closer to you there you go. If they are trying to end a conversation there you go as well.

A shit test is something negative about you. A woman saying you look familiar means that you remind her of someone. That's it. If you continue this kind of overthinking, you're just going to create your own massive roadblocks and stifle your success.
