Are you suggesting I can't pick up the Bible, gain 10-20 decent life lessons from it and toss it in the trash? Am I a Christian because I read it or agreed with parts? Do I have the believe that God created the heavens then the Earth for this knowledge to be applicable to my own life? You might be an all or nothing guy, but I see the value in bits and pieces. Most things are a grey area. Don't be so black and white.

Who gives a shit if it's fiction or not, that's such a weird perspective to focus on for it. Religion explains the meaning of like (whatever the fuck that is) to those who are looking for that. But to many many others, the books hold knowledge far deeper than that. Read them, even if you think they're retarded. There's a lot more in there than you might believe, despite your stubbornness on a subject you've taken a surface level glance at and decided, root and stem, is dumb.

Also, you're flat wrong in that you believe religion to just be a way to "explain our meaning". To suggest that thousand or more year old books have not a single shred of wisdom to impart is so dangerously closed-minded, I have to say something. I think you might be believing anyone who takes teachings from a religious tome views the book as a history book, rather than one of the world's first "self help" books. Every religious book every written has plenty of value. Tons.
